RB2B in Europe: what person identification may do here
RB2B identifies people only for US visitors. What remains in the EU, what the free plan offers and which alternatives exist for company identification.
RB2B advertises showing the people behind website visits, with names and business email. For websites in Europe this is a limitation worth knowing before signing up: person identification applies only to visitors from the USA. Based on the provider's statements, this article shows what remains in Europe, what the free plan delivers and which alternatives exist. It does not rate RB2B and is not legal advice.
What RB2B does not do in the EU
On the page RB2B on data protection, the provider describes person identification as a US technology that operates on US soil and resolves US persons. The products are not aimed at the EU or the United Kingdom. According to the provider, its database contains no personal data such as email addresses or phone numbers of residents of the EU and the United Kingdom, regardless of where they are located.
Technically this works through a check of the IP address: a person is only determined if the IP address is assigned to the USA. RB2B says it uses the IP addresses of visitors from the EU and the United Kingdom only to decide when the script starts. The data is not assigned to any product, and the provider does not act on it.
For you this means: with a visitor from Vienna or Hamburg, you get no person from RB2B. At most you see a company.
What remains in Europe: company level
According to RB2B, company identification for visitors outside the USA runs through a partnership with Demandbase. For this identification, the provider stipulates on the same page that you must use a consent management solution (in the original: „MUST use a Consent Management Solution“). That corresponds to what applies in Germany and Austria anyway when scripts read device information. Background: Section 25 TDDDG: cookies and tracking in Germany.
RB2B gives the hit rate as 15 to 20 percent for the Free, Starter and Pro plans and 35 to 45 percent for Pro+. These are manufacturer statements. Whether and how they apply to visitors from Europe is not stated. How much rates fluctuate is explained in Identification rate: why the figures vary so much.
The plans at a glance
| Plan | Price per month | Scope according to the pricing page |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 US dollars | 150 „resolutions“ per month, company level only, notification via Slack |
| Starter | 79 US dollars | 300 resolutions, people (USA only) and companies, surcharge 0.45 US dollars per resolution |
| Pro | from 149 US dollars | 600, 1,250 or 2,500 resolutions, business emails, surcharge 0.25 US dollars per resolution |
| Pro+ | from 199 US dollars | from 600 resolutions, higher hit rate |
As of 7 November 2026, prices net according to the provider's page. Providers change their prices, so check the current page before buying. The prices are given in US dollars and not converted. All plans include a trial period of seven days.
The pricing metric is called „resolution“. What exactly a resolution counts is not clearly stated on the page. Whether an identified company uses up a resolution, you should ask before buying. The page also contradicts itself on the largest tiers: the table goes up to 2,500,000 resolutions, while the help texts refer to sales from 12,500.
The free plan in practice
For European websites, the free plan is the most interesting part. It offers company level, 150 resolutions per month and Slack. Not included are email addresses and further connections. Webhooks, CSV export and exclusions only come from Pro. Anyone who only wants to test which companies come can start with it, but has to build in a consent solution and adapt the privacy policy. A comparison of the free offerings is provided by Visitor analysis for free: free plans compared.
What you should check as a European company
- Data processing. Server location, data processing agreement and certificates are not named by the provider on the pages retrieved. RB2B offers a Data Protection Addendum. A checklist is in Data processing agreement: checklist for web tools.
- Consent. Load the script only once the visitor has agreed. How this relates to legitimate interest is explained in Consent or legitimate interest: how to decide.
- Access and deletion. RB2B refers to opt-out options for data subjects. Check how you answer requests on the basis of your privacy policy.
- Making contact. An identified company can also be a reason for a call. Whether and how that is allowed is covered in B2B cold outreach: what is allowed in DE, AT and CH.
This does not replace legal advice. If in doubt, ask your data protection adviser.
Alternatives for company level
If in Europe you only get company level anyway, a comparison with providers designed for it is worthwhile:
| Provider | Free tier | Special feature |
|---|---|---|
| Leadfeeder | Lite after the trial | Companies from Europe, see Leadfeeder pricing |
| Leadinfo | Plans on the pricing page | DACH and Benelux, see Leadinfo pricing |
| Whovisit | 10 companies per month | Identification via the network owner of the IP address, without a cookie, servers in the Netherlands |
Whether a provider has person identification for US visitors or connections to HubSpot and Salesforce varies. RB2B offers the connections from the Pro plan, while Whovisit connects CRM systems in every plan via API and webhooks, direct connections to HubSpot and Pipedrive are planned. Which function is included with whom is shown in Visitor identification pricing: providers compared.
Frequently asked questions
Does RB2B identify visitors from Germany? Only at company level. According to its own statement, RB2B resolves people exclusively for visitors with a US IP address.
Is RB2B allowed in the EU? That cannot be said in general. For company identification the provider requires a consent management solution and refers to data protection lawyers. Whether your use is permissible depends on implementation, consent and contract.
What does RB2B cost for a European website? The free plan costs nothing and includes 150 resolutions. The Starter plan begins at 79 US dollars per month but includes person identification, which does not take effect for European visitors. For pure company identification it is hardly necessary.
